What is the Worlds Best App?

What is the worlds best App? There are over 500,000 Apps in the App store. No matter our hobbies, interests, talents, Apple has said, “There’s an App for that!” With so many incredible Apps to choose from how can we know which is The BEST?  As I pondered that question another one came into mind, “what is the purpose of an application or an App?“ According to Dictionary.com the definition of the word application is “the act of putting to a special use or purpose: the application of common sense to a problem.” It also says, “the quality of being useable for a particular purpose or in a special way; relevance.”. So with those definitions in mind, I asked myself, “what should an App be able to do?”   Apps should be designed to make our lives easier and more enjoyable. An App should be specifically designed to make you happy.  To make you happier and help you no matter what mood or situation you are in. Everytime you use this App you should feel lasting peace and comfort, not only fleeting joy.  It must be practical, relevant, and personal.  It should be beneficial for all people no matter  how old or young they are. It should be able to be used at home or on the go. You must know that everything you see is real and true! So what App fits all of those qualifications? What is the worlds BEST App?

The Scripture App!!!!

Now before you stop reading let me explain what I mean. When we APPly the things we learn in the scriptures it changes our lives. The scriptures are the word of God designed to give us help and instruct us in all the phases of our lives. Each specific scripture can help us to solve a specific problem in our life.

How Does this App work?

I said earlier that this App must be practical, relevant, and personal.  When I turned to the scriptures it did exactly that. I was having a pretty bad day and it seemed like nothing was going right. I felt like I wasn’t important and that I wasn’t making a difference. I felt like I didn’t have a friend in the world.  In my time of trial I decided to use the scripture app when I read…Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.  Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.  Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friend; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. John 15:13-15 As I read that scripture and then APPlied it to my life I realized that I did have a friend, and that He has already done everything for me and will do anything for me if I would simply ask and keep His commandments. The APPlication of that scripture was exactly what I needed and it stayed with me far longer than any game ever could.

Once again I was having a difficult time, this time with my college math class. I had never felt so dumb in my life, I honestly felt like a failure. I was seriously wondering if I should just drop the class when I turned to the Book of Mormon and read… Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life. 2 Nephi 31:20 After reading that I knew that I needed to keep going and to do my best.  I knew that if I continued to love one another, and trust in God, everything would work out.  As I did that I didn’t suddenly become an expert at Math.  I didn’t ace all of my tests, but I did the best that I could and felt peace. I knew that everything would be alright.

There are Apps for everything.  It is my hope that we allow the scriptures to become a part of our live, that the verses in them can be as significant as the programs on our Ipod. I hope that we can say, “there’s a scripture for that!” It is also my hope that we turn to the scriptures before we turn to anything else.  As we APPly their words they will help us, guide us, and always bless us!!!!
